Sitting right in the middle of Samsung’s LCD television range is the LE40C580J1 – a set from the Series 5 range that offers everything you really need in a television, but with a few additional treats too.
Firstly, no high full HD television will be happy unless it is getting a good quality, and preferably high definition source. Luckily Samsung have made it easy with the LE40C580J1 by including Freeview HD with this set, so you can straightaway get the benefit of all that high definition has to offer.
The Samsung LE40C580J1 is also a good looking television as we have come to expect from the brand, with an attractive case design with rose black tints. It is also quite slim for an LCD television at only 78mm deep – if you add the stand the overall dimensions are 911.6mm x 622.8mm x 255mm. The Ultra Clear panels make for less reflection to it is going to be quite flexible with where you can position it. The Samsung HyperReal technology promises to deliver pin sharp and saturated images so you can enjoy the 1080p resolution to its full extent, and the Dolby Digital sound from the two 10w speakers will please your ears too.
The flexibility of the Samsung LE40C580J1 continues when you look at the connection options. No less than four HDMI sockets (three at the rear and one at the side) ensure that you’ll be able to connect all your devices without a problem, and the two USB ports (one at the side, one at the rear) means you can connect devices to display your photographs on the screen. There is also a rear component, scart and composite connections if you need them.
You also get the Allshare service (powered by DLNA) with the Samsung LE40C580J1, so you’ll be able to transfer music, videos and photos from your compatible PC or mobile device – either using a LAN cable to your router, or with the optional Samsung WIS09ABGN USB dongle which can be inserted into the side or rear USB socket.
What to consider before you buy the Samsung LE40C580J1 LCD Television
It is lacking some of the features of the more expensive models in the Samsung LED range, so if you want the Internet@TV function, consider looking further up the range.
