Samsung WIS09ABGN Wireless Adaptor

If you want to take advantage of wireless networking with your Samsung device, then the Samsung WIS09ABGN wireless adaptor is what you need.

Samsung WIS09ABGN Wireless DongleWhilst most devices will have an ethernet port for connecting to the internet, it is not always practical to connect a cable from the Blu-ray Player or television to your router either because of the distance and position of your router, or perhaps your television or Blu-ray player (such as the wall mountable BD-P4600) is installed in pride of place and you don’t want to run an ugly network cable to it.

The Samsung WIS09ABGN will allow compatible devices like the BD-C5500 Blu-ray Player and HT-C5500 home cinema system to access Samsung’s Internet@TV service wirelessly giving you access to YouTube videos and BBC iPlayer on compatible devices.

The WIS09ABGN device itself is is finished in gloss black and fairly simple in design, but still displays the trademark Samsung styling and is attractive enough so you wouldn’t mind too much having it on show. The dongle can be used straight, or if more convenient, you can use the supplied right angle adapter to make the positioning of the dongle easier.

What to consider before you buy the Samsung WIS09ABGN

The only downside to the dongle is the price – other wireless USB sticks come in much cheaper than this, and we feel Samsung should have made the price more comparable.

Why you should buy the Samsung WIS09ABGN

If you want to go wireless, and with full compatibility, the Samsung dongle is the only real choice. Rating: 4.5/5

Will the WIS09ABGN Wireless Link USB DO work with a Samsung HD-PT1200 5.1 Home Theater System?

    1. Samsung say this is compatible with the 2009 onwards range of Samsung televisions and Blu-ray players so it is unlikely it will be compatible.

  2. Samsung LED TV owner says:

Does it give access to BBC iPlayer

    1. This dongle allows you to access the Samsung Internet@TV function using Wi-Fi – so if the television/Blu-ray player has access to the BBC iPlayer – yes it will.

what is the recommended distance between the dongle a wireless router

    1. There’s no simple answer as even a short distance can be affected by other factors such as wall construction, inteference etc. The only way is to try and see how you go.
