The brand name ‘Tannoy’ is familiar to most people, whether they are into audio visual equipment or not. However, most people are not aware that they produce cutting edge, high quality speaker systems for a vast array of applications from serious music studio speakers, to the humble home cinema. And thank goodness they do, because otherwise we wouldn’t have the fabulous little Tannoy SFX5.1 Home Cinema Speaker Package to enjoy!
The SFX 5.1 package is a compact yet surprisingly capable set of speakers. Measuring only 140mm high by 95mm wide and weighing 750g, they are small enough to be able to easily position anywhere. The four satelite speakers come complete with neat mounting brackets so they can be screwed to the wall, or there is an optional stand available if you can’t, or don’t want to start drilling holes. The centre speaker is slightly bigger at 120mm high by 230mm wide but should still be easy to position above or below your screen. All five speakers are two-way and have a 15mm titanium tweeter for the high frequencies and a 75mm cone for the mid range. The low frequencies are taken care of by the 100w subwoofer, and its 200mm downward facing driver integrates perfectly with the rest of the speakers to give a coherent and balanced sound system.
The Tannoy SFX5.1 is a real one box solution, with the speaker mounting brackets, and even 25m of speaker cable included to really get you set up without delay.
The speakers look good without being overly ‘showy’ so we can see them fitting into most environments. Most importantly, Tannoy have managed to put together a package, that contains just the right combination of style, size and performance.
What to consider before you buy the Tannoy SFX5.1 Home Cinema Speaker Package
Whilst the SFX5.1 speaser will suit most environments, Home Cinema enthusiasts with bigger rooms might want to look for a package with more power output.
Why you should buy the Tannoy SFX5.1 Home Cinema Speaker Package
The Tannoy SFX5.1 is a very neat, compact and capable speaker package and with the brackets and speaker cable included, is also very good value. Highly recommended. Rating: /5

I am looking for a home cinema system that is capable of also playing music from my sonos system. I have been advised to go for the Tannoy SFK5.1 but to also add some decent hi fi speakers, however I do not really want this size of speakers on stands in the room (6.5m x 4m). Will the Tannnoy system do the job or should I upgrade to a different system, or do I really need the hi fi speakers in any event?
Small speakers will always sound ‘boxy’ (unless you buy Bose). Next 5.1 up the Tannoy range sounds more reasonable but there is much better makes out there for the same money. Tannoy’s main business is in factory PA’s and lift speakers, unfortunately this follows through on all it’s products.
What a load of crap Bose are utter junk. Why comment of something you don’t own
I own these speakers and they are phenomenal for what they are. So enjoy your 1980s am radio paper cone pose Junk
I have this speaker set and yes they do sound good. Especially if using a decent home cinema amp (yamaha). The only downside is the speaker wall mounts that come with them. They are cheap plastic and snap like a twig so easily. If you push your speaker they actually wobble because the plastic on the mounts is so bendy and thin. The speakers are fairly heavy for what they are and these plastic mounts are really not suitable for them. You accidentally knock them and snap, they are knackered. I am now having to find replacements because of this issue. The only problem for me with this is that people selling these mounts are asking stupid prices and other mounts don’t have the correct fixture to mount these Tannoy speakers. The only way to mount these is by a single screw underneath. You cannot attach a wall mount from the rear of the speaker. All there is at the rear is the two speakers terminals.
Hope this helps!
