Samsung HT-C5200 Blu-ray Home Cinema System

Full 5.1 home cinema systems aren’t for everyone. Some people don’t want the extra speakers and some people can’t fit them in, so manufacturers often offer a 2.1 version of their popular systems exactly for this reason.

This is applicable to the Samsung HT-C5200 which is a 2.1 version of the very popular and in demand HT-C5500. So you get the same great looks, and the same the two 20cm tall front speakers but the built in virtual surround sound will do its very best to give you as near as full surround sound it can, and will still output an impressive 500W.

Samsung HT-C5200 Blu-ray Home Cinema SystemThe Samsung HT-C5200 also has the same wealth of features such as the fantastic Internet@TV service through which you can access the almost essential BBC iPlayer as well as enjoy movie streaming from LoveFilm. There is also the AllShare service to enjoy meaning you can stream music, photos and movies to the system from your PC. To use either of these services though you’ll have to add the optional Samsung wireless dongle.

Another feature we particularly like is the two HDMI inputs on the HT-C5200 – something which is surprisingly lacking on other brands systems and makes this one that bit more flexible allowing you to plug in a games console and a camcorder for example. There is also an optical input so you can enjoy the improved sound from another device such as your Nintendo Wii.

What to consider before you buy the Samsung HT-C5200

Although the system comes with an iPod/iPhone docking station users have commented that the television needs to be on in order to play it. Not a major problem, but worth noting all the same and may well get fixed in a future Firmware update.

Why you should buy the Samsung HT-C5200

As well as giving the full high definition visual experience from the full HD visual experience from Blu-ray, DivX HD, DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD, the Samsung is flexible and good looking too. It might be a 2.1 system but it’s got a lot going for it, and will definitely improve the sound from your television speakers. Rating: 4.5/5

Hi – I have purchased the Samsung HTC-5200 2.1 Blu-Ray and have connected it via HDMI to a Samsung LED TV (HDMI Out) – I have Sky+ HD connected to TV via HDMI – i also have optical lead from Blue Ray to TV. I am only getting sound from the speakers when playing blu ray disk or music from Ipod not from normal TV – is this right – can I not get the surround sound when watching normal TV or have I not connected it all properly. Any advice would be grateful. Thank you.

I have the same connection and it works fine! Have you tried to activate the external speakers from the TV? You can get the sound from the speakers when you have the blu ray’ s input in DV in not in AUX!
    PS Sorry for my english!
