The Sony BDV-E300 is a Blu-ray based home cinema system that aims to compete with the very popular Panasonic SC-BT200 in the high definition surround sound market.
The Sony BDV-E300 is a 5.1 based system and comes with 4 neat front and surround sound speakers, a well designed centre speaker and a fairly compact 220mm wide and 392mm high subwoofer housing the 18cm driver. These 5 speakers and subwoofer all go together to output an impressive 1000w RMS to fill even large rooms with high definition sound. The main unit itself doubles as the amplifier and is a very good looking, and satisfactorily large affair with a sleek glass front and minimal instrusions from buttons and dials.
The main benefit of the Sony BDV-E300 is of course the high definition Blu-ray playback, but it will also upscale standard DVDs to 1080p to help you get the best of these too. The x.v. Colour and 24p True Cinema technology help ensure movies are viewed in the way they were intended. The included iPod dock is an added benefit especially with the built in Portable Audio Enhancer improving the quality of compressed MP3 tracks. Add to this an RDS radio with 20 presets and the E300 can become the central entertaiment unit in your lounge.
To make things simple, the Sony BDV-E300 includes DCAC auto calibration to make the set up following your positioning of your speakers easy. Owners of Sony Bravia televisions will also find the system fully integrates so that only one remote control needs to be used.
