The Sony DAV-DZ680 is a DVD based Home Cinema System that with two compact surround speakers and two stylish tallboy front speakers to help your home cinema really stand out visually as well as audibly.
The Sony DAV-DZ680 DVD Home Cinema System is actually almost identical in features to the popular Sony DAV-DZ280 with the only real difference being the addition of two tallboy front speakers rather than the smaller speakers of the DZ280. The DAV-DZ680 retains the futuristic and sleek looks with its gloss black finish and well organised front fascia. The tall front speakers do not add any extra power to the system, and it is a little hard to see where the additional money you have to pay for this system over the DZ280 has been spent. The front speakers are smart looking and of course they are just the right height so you can hear all the right details without the sound getting lost or absorbed in the room. They are powerful enough at 142W (RMS) and the compact subwoofer outputs as impressive 850W which will be enough for most rooms.
Like the DZ680s younger brother, the DCAC (Digital Cinema Auto Calibration) system and supplied calibration microphone makes setting up the system a breeze and helps ensure the sound is optimised for your room.
The included iPod/iPhone cradle is a real bonus, and combined with the USB based ‘Digital Media Port’ and RDS radio, really helps the DAVDZ680 become the hub of your home entertainment system.
What to consider before you buy the Sony DAV-DZ680
With the DAV-DZ280 coming in somewhat cheaper, consider if you really need the tallboy speakers.
