Toshiba Announce Their New Blu-ray Player – The BDX2000

Toshiba BDX2000 Blu-ray PlayerYes, you read the title correctly, Toshiba have got into the Blu-ray player market, and if looks are anything to go by, this player should be a stunner!

Easily one of the best looking players on the market, the Toshiba BDX2000 has all the important features to make it a real competitor in the hotting up Blu-ray player sector of home audio visual. As well as the essential Blu-ray Profile 2 (BD-LIVE) support the player also includes Toshibas REGZA-LINK which is great if you have a Toshiba television. The whole of the front flap folds down to reveal the disc tray, playback buttons and an SD Card slot so you can use the player to view images and video from your digital camera.

Unsurprisingly, there is no HD-DVD support with this player showing that Toshiba have well and truly moved on from the format wars. However, whilst the format may be long gone, Toshiba were further ahead with the development of HD-DVD than the Blu-ray stable were, so you could argue that they actually have more experience with high definition. We will hopefully have our hands on a player soon, so subscribe to the RSS Feed, follow us on Twitter, or become a fan on Facebook to be the first to know!

The player is due for release in December, although at this point we’re unsure whether it will be before Christmas, and although pricing has not been decided yet, we would expect it to retail for around £200. If you really can’t wait until then to go Blu-ray, the Sony BDP-S360, Panasonic DMP-BD60 or LG BD370 may just tickle your fancy instead!
