Samsung HW-C470 Soundbar

The Samsung HW-C470 is a wall mountable soundbar that takes the convenience of an all in one speaker system, and makes it even more flexible and easy to position and set up.

Soundbars are already simple to set up and get started with, so you may be wondering how Samsung could have made it even easier? First of all, the HWC470 includes a wall mountable, wireless subwoofer, meaning that the all important bass can be provided without having to compromise where you position it – it can as easily be tucked right behind the television, as it can be placed around a corner. However, unlike other subs, when this unit is screwed to the wall, it is going to be harder to relocate so make sure you experiment with different placements first to see what works best for you. Secondly, the Samsung HW-C470 also comes with a wireless iPod/iPhone dock so if you have positioned your soundbar on the wall you will still be easily able to connect your device to it and place music through the system, all controlled by the remote control.

Samsung HW-C470 Soundbar The Samsung HW-C470 is an attractive enough device with the three speaker drivers on each end of the bar providing 280W of power which should be more than powerful enough for most rooms. Although it is only a 2.1 system it does include Samsungs virtual surround sound system which should make the experience more immersive, and the Crystal Amp Pro technology will ensure they sound quality is as good as it can be. If you intend to use the HWC470 everyday, you’ll also be pleased to hear it comes with Samsung’s Smart Volume technology so that the loud adverts in between the programmes don’t blast out – the system will even out the volume automatically.

MUST this soundbar be wall mounted or is it an option?

  2. Ni, it doesn’t have to be, it’s just an option.

  3. I know the HW-C470 is wireless but were does the power come from? Is the soundbar plugged in or the sub? Or does the soundbar get it’s power from the tv?

  4. The soundbar still needs to be connected to the mains. It’s just the subwoofer that’s wireless.

  5. I own a samsung UE46-8000 series LED tv which is fantastic but am looking to upgrade the sound quality. The HW-C470 seems to tick the boxes that I need.
Is the slightly cheaper HW-C450 model identical in specification but without the ipod docking station, or is there more to it than that?
Is there an alternative, better or even newer system just around the corner. I have a £350 budget to spend on a speaker upgrade but am not keen of filling the room of speakers. Can you help?

    1. Yes, if your stereo has RCA/Phono outputs, or even an optical output, you should be able to plug it into the back.
