Humax HD-FOX T2 Freeview HD ReceiverIf you wanted susbscription free high definition television, your only choice used to be the impressive Humax Foxsat HD or the Humax Foxsat HDR Freesat receivers. However, they still require a satellite dish which can be difficult or near impossible for some people to install, and is often a costly installation. Since the introduction of the Freeview HD earlier this year, we have started to see a trickle of Freeview HD receiver boxes come on to the market, and one of the first of these was the highly anticipated Humax HD-FOX T2 Freeview HD Receiver.

The Humax HD-FOX T2 Freeview HD Receiver is a reasonably attractive device with a circular control pad in the middle and power button and channel display screen on the left, but the simple looks are spoilt slightly by the mass of logos on the right hand side.

Humax HD-FOX T2 Freeview HD Receiver can receive up to 50 standard definition channels like Dave, E4 and Film 4 and high definition channels BBC HD and ITV 1HD, as well as 24 radio stations. The receiver has an 8 day on screen electronic programme guide as well as important parental controls.

As for connection options, the Humax HD-FOX T2 Freeview HD Receiver is fairly well supported with two scart sockets on the rear, HDMI output, optical output and composite video and audio phono outputs. There is also a USB socket on the rear to which you can connect a storage device and play XviD, MP3 or JPEG files. Finally, and of most interest, is the network port, which when connected to your home network you’ll be able to connect to a DLNA server such as a PC or NAS (Network attached storage) drive and play music, video or your photos.

What to consider before you buy the Humax HD-FOX T2 Freeview HD Receiver

The initial outlay for the HD-FOX T2 is not cheap and may put some off, but of course there are no ongoing costs to consider.

Why you should buy the Humax HD-FOX T2 Freeview HD Receiver

The Humax offers the cheapest current way to receive high-definition television without having to pay ongoing subscription costs. Like the other Humax devices, the T2 is a solid and reliable device that represents good value for money. Rating: 4.5/5
