Onkyo DV-SP406 Upscaling DVD Player
Like many of the Onkyo products on the market at the moment, the DV-SP406 will not win any awards in the looks category. With its slightly retro design, many style concious buyers might be put off its slightly gawky design, but it would be a mistake not to look further at this players capabilities.
When you first use the Onkyo DV-SP406 you also notice some slight corner cutting on the build quality front too, with some of the plastics seeming a bit on the cheap side and the remote control, whilst perfectly usable, a bit lacking compared to other DVD players on the market. The player has ample connections with HDMI, component, scart, digital optical and coaxial outputs as well as a very useful USB input on the front of the machine.
Thanksfully, the video performance of the SP406 is its redeeming feature with the player upscaling to 1080p with remarkable quality and detail, and even the most demanding movies seem to be handled with ease.
What to consider before you buy the Onkyo DV-SP406 DVD Player
The looks of the SP406 won’t be everyones cup of tea, but will perfectly complement one of the excellent Onkyo amplifiers.
Why you should buy the Onkyo DV-SP406 DVD Player
The SP406 is a very high quality upscaling DVD player, and if you want to get the best out of your existing DVD collection, the Onkyo DV-SP406 will not disappoint.
