Yes it should do. You’d need to enable Dolby Digital 5.1 sound out of your Sky+ HD box first, but it should work.

I was looking to buy the HT-IS100 but have been told that i will not be able to get 5.1 sound with Sky HD. Is this true, and will the Sony HT-SS360 be able to receive 5.1 sound from my Sky HD box?

i have the sony ss360 and have connected to my ps3 with 2 monster ht1000hd 4ft cables my question is the ps3 decodes dolby trueHD and dtsHD so does that mean even tho the ss360 does not decode those formats but the ps3 does,is that the audio i am hearing plesase help oh and also can i use diff speakers with the system

No, only the top of the range Sony BDP-S760 has these inputs.

Is it possible to connect my Panasonic SA PT 460 5.1 speakers direct to a Sony BDP 360 player or will I have to buy an amp/home cinema system etc?

Yes you should do. It has 3 HDMI inputs and 2 optical inputs so you should get surround sound through all of them.

Will I be able to enjoy my Virgin Media+ box through all 5 speakers when connected to HDMI? How will I connect all my other devices (Wii WDMP Video), still through the TV, or can I connect to the ss360, and will their sound come through all 5 speakers

The main purpose of the HTS-S360 is to provide a straightforward way of adding surround sound to your existing Blu-ray player. A dedicated home cinema amplifier is going to provide a more controllable overall experience, so whilst it has it’s shortcomings when compared to a dedicated amplifier, it is easier to set up, and cheaper.

I like the look of the Sony HTSS360, and with your write up it sounds just right for me. One teensy weensy niggle though. How does it compare with the likes of Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer etc dedicated a/v receivers. They all have GUI/OSD facility where the sony does not. Will this be of any great detriment ie manipulating sound effects choice etc.

Hi Chris If you don't want the online features of the Panasonic SC-BT200, then the Sony HT-SS360 combined with the Sony BDP-S360 is your best option at the moment.
