Sony BDV-360FS Blu-ray 2.1 Home Cinema SystemIf you want to get the full high definition experience at home, then the Sony BDV-360FS Blu-ray home cinema system could be just what you’re looking for.

Like the Samsung HT-BD7200, the Sony BDV-360FS is a 2.1 home cinema system. Based around the standalone Blu-ray player, the Sony BDP-S360, the BDV-360FS adds a pair of speakers and a subwoofer with built in amplifier and uses their own ‘S-Force PRO’ system to give you a near surround sound experience from just the 2 speakers and a subwoofer. Whilst a full 5.1 system will always have the edge, the BDV360FS is a really good option if you can’t fit a two rear speakers, or simply don’t want to.

The actual Blu-ray player is very capable 1080p upscaling device fully up to date with the latest BD-Live Blu-ray profile and is one of the quickest starting players on the market today. Whilst very good in its own regard, when you plug the player it into the amplifer/subwoofer unit, it becomes a much more serious system. With three HDMI inputs and one output, two digital optical inputs, a digital coaxial socket, and stereo phono sockets, the BDV-360FS can really become the hub of your high definition system and will allow you to connect pretty much every device you have and enjoy improved and surround sound across your whole system, whether it’s for movies, television or gaming. There is even a digital media port to allow you to connect your MP3 player, and the BDV-360FS will even improve the sound of it when connected. The system also has an RDS radio so there is not much more you need in a home entertainment system.

What to consider before you buy the Sony BDV-360FS

Whilst not as attractive as the Samsung HT-BD7200, the Sony is better value and much more flexible.

Why you should buy the Sony BDV-360FS

Owners of high definition televisions who want to not only enjoy their screen to its full benefit, but also want an improvement from the generally underpowered built in speakers should look no further. With its huge connectivity options, the BDV-360FS is a flexible, and great value purchase. Rating: 4.5/5
